F1 Monaco GP: Massa will ‘think twice’ if top F1 drive escapes him

Felipe Massa has admitted he may 'think twice' about continuing his F1 career if he cannot land a top drive next season as his current contract with Williams nears its end.

One of the most experienced drivers on the F1 grid having made his debut back in 2002 and taken in 235 grand prix starts, Massa is currently in the midst of his third season with the Williams Martini Racing team but his deal ends at the close of the 2016 season.

Though Massa has enjoyed something of a career renaissance under Williams after struggling towards the end of an eight-year tenure with Ferrari, the 11-time race winner says he is keen to get contract, but while he is happy to continue racing, there are caveats.

"I'm still motivated, I'm still happy to do what I'm doing and for the moment I hope I will be on the track," the 35 year-old said. "We will see, we need a little more time to understand what will happen but definitely I am looking forward to being at a nice team.

"If I don't have this opportunity I will think twice, but I hope I can still be here racing and enjoying myself like I am now. For sure we are working on it [talks]. Definitely I am not losing time to understand what will happen next year and we will see what's going to happen."

Since joining Williams, Massa - who is the only driver to have scored in each F1 race so far this year - has notched up five podiums with the Grove squad.
