Superstars: Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris announces Liuzzi-Biagi

Team Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris will be fielding a sensational duo in the 2013 SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES. The manufacturer-backed squad is set to line-up F.1 star Tonio Liuzzi and former SUPERSTARS champion Thomas Biagi aboard two highly-competitive Mercedes C63 AMG racecars.

The historic Lombardy-based tuning firm Romeo Ferraris will provide their new drivers with two 550-horsepower machines, adding an exciting program in the SWR-promoted championship to their European F.3 Championship operation. The team made their Formula 3 debut last week with Mercedes support, while Michela Cerruti, who drove the famous all-pink Mercedes to win in 2011, sat behind the wheel.

Tonio Liuzzi is set to be back to the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES arena after his positive maiden season in 2012. The Italian drove a Mercedes C63 AMG to two wins at Monza and Hungaroring before fighting for title until the very last race of the year at Pergusa.

"I'm ready for a new challenge after an intense 2012 season - told Liuzzi - with this team and car package I think we will be able to aim at the title. I know that the they are very clear-headed, the car is more competitive than ever and Thomas, my team-mate, has a lot of experience".

The former F.1 racer, who entered 82 Grand Prix races for Red Bull, Toro Rosso and HRT, will rely on a quick and consistent team-mate. Biagi is one of the most recognized SUPERSTARS drivers and constantly proved a frontrunner throughout his first four seasons. The Bologna-based man, born in 1976, has also won a double SUPERSTARS crown in 2010 by cruising to both the Italian and the International SUPERSTARS titles. His previous accomplishments also include two World FIA GT championship wins.

"Today we're starting a new challenge alongside a top team and a manufacturer that has made major commitments to the development of young drivers and motorsports in general - told Biagi - I have been very impressed by how my new team works. In addition to that, I will rely on a strong and experienced team-mate like Tonio Liuzzi. I look forward to collaborate with him towards a common goal: victory".
