Junior WRC dates revealed
Rallies in Italy and Great Britain have been introduced to next year's FIA Junior WRC calendar which was announced today (friday).
The series comprises five rounds, the same as in 2018, with Rally Italia Sardegna replacing Portugal and Wales Rally GB returning instead of Turkey.
The championship, won this year by Sweden's Emil Bergkvist, continues to offer a variety of surfaces to challenge the sport's most promising young drivers.
The season launches on the ice and snow of Rally Sweden before the crews are put through their paces on asphalt at the Tour de Corse. The final three rounds are all gravel, Italy and Britain sandwiching Neste Rally Finland.
The series will again be managed by M-Sport Poland and all drivers will compete in identical Ford Fiesta R2 cars. The winner will drive away with a Fiesta R5 and a generous support package with which to contest WRC 2 in 2020.
Championship manager Maciej Woda said the calendar would test competitors in every aspect of the sport.
"Snow, asphalt, gravel, sprint stages, endurance stages, freezing temperatures, sweltering temperatures, you name it, next year's season has it, and I'm sure we'll see another very worthy champion at the end of the year," he added.
