Hamilton loving F1 ‘more than ever’ amid fight with Vettel

Despite having thoughts about retirement in the past, Lewis Hamilton says he is now loving F1 "more than ever".

Lewis Hamilton is enjoying racing in Formula 1 "more than ever" during his fight with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel despite admitting he has considered retiring from the sport in the past.

Hamilton moved into a 28-point lead at the top of the drivers' championship with his third straight race win in Singapore last weekend, having fought closely with Vettel at the front of the pack.

Known to have a number of interests outside of F1, talk of Hamilton quitting the sport in order to pursue them has been rife for some time.

Hamilton stressed his desire to keep engaging in activities outside of the sport to lay foundations for his post-racing life, believing it would not be possible to return to F1.

"When you're in Formula 1, you're in the spotlight. You're at the top of the world, then it's downhill from there on," Hamilton said on The Jonathan Ross Show.

"You don't earn the same money, there's not a huge amount of opportunities because you've been in that world for so long.

"For these past five, six years I've really been trying to work on what I enjoy outside of the sport so that when I stop I can walk away and still have other things."

Hamilton admitted he had considered retiring from F1, but stressed he is enjoying his racing a lot at the moment and has no current plans to walk away.

"There have been talks about [retiring], and I definitely have thought about it," Hamilton said.

"There have definitely been times when I've thought there are other things I want to do, but then we're in the heat of this battle right now and I'm loving it more than ever.

"The training, all the work that you put into something, and then you get to really show your abilities, it's the greatest feeling ever.

"So I'm going to keep going for as long as I can, and see what I can do."
