F1 Monaco GP: Sauber slams ‘unacceptable behaviour’ in driver clash

Sauber team principal Monisha Kaltenborn has blasted both Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr for their collision at the Monaco Grand Prix which ultimately caused the team's double DNF and has warned against such incidents in the future.

The clash was triggered when Felipe Nasr ignored a team order to allow team-mate Marcus Ericsson, who was the faster car at the time, to pass which resulted in the pair colliding at Rascasse and ended both of their races.

Kaltenborn has slated both of her drivers for 'unacceptable behaviour' and after an impassioned post-mortem on the clash has warned Ericsson and Nasr about their future conduct.

"It was unacceptable behaviour by both drivers," Kaltenborn said after the race. "The work of the whole team ended in a collusion. Marcus and Felipe both know how much work is put into every race weekend. They have the responsibility to make it to the end of the race.

"After evaluating the overall situation, it was important to bring the fastest car as far as possible to the front, so that we were able to used any chances. Our decision was based on the data from both cars.

"After this, we have clarified the situation internally and both drivers are aware of their responsibilities. Such an incident will not happen again."
