F1 Hungarian GP: Ecclestone’s mother-in-law kidnapped in Brazil

Bernie Ecclestone's mother-in-law has reportedly been kidnapped in Sao Paulo with an estimated ransom of 120 million Brazilian Reals (£27.9m).

According to Brazilian reports by Veja and Jornal Nacional Aparecida Schunck has been kidnapped from the Interlagos region last Friday with investigations currently ongoing.

The kidnappers have put up a 120m Brazilian Real, around £27.9m, for the safe return of the 67-year-old. Schunck is the mother of Ecclestone's third wife Fabiana Flosi, with the pair marrying in 2012.

The ransom figure is the largest ever demanded in a kidnapping in Brazil.

If reports prove to be correct it will be the second high-profile kidnapping case Ecclestone has been involved in inside four years after his daughter Tamara was threatened by Martin Peckham for the price of £200,000, but he was later found guilty and sentenced to five years in jail.
