DG’s Nève praises WTCR racers Comte and Homola

DG Sport Compétition team manager Eric Nève has praised 2018 drivers Aurélien Comte and Mato Homola for rising to the challenge laid own by PEUGEOT Sport ahead of the inaugural WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.

The Belgian customer team was tasked with landing two victories with the 308TCR and duly delivered with Comte and Homola each taking a win.

In addition, Comte claimed five second-place finishes, which was more than any other driver in WTCR OSCARO season one, while Comte secured a sole DHL Pole Position in Japan.

“We were challenged to win a couple of races, which we did and we added a pole position and some more podium results,” said Nève. “This has put the 308TCR in the spotlight and has generated sales.

“Both Mato and Aurélien Comte have been up to the challenge. Aurélien brought with him all his experience as a development driver of the PEUGEOT 308 Cup and TCR, while Mato showed his true pace, especially on difficult tracks such as Marrakech, Vila Real or Macau.

“In the course of the season, Aurélien has made good progress in getting the best out of the tyres on one flying lap, which was crucial in qualifying. He has also raised his game in terms of dealing with the pressure. Mato has always challenged his track engineer to find solutions to adapt the car to his driving style and it has paid off. This has helped the team to question the engineering approach in terms of set-up.”

DG has yet to announce its plans for WTCR OSCARO 2019 but Nève has confirmed work is ongoing to continue the series.
