Bid for the best cars at Autosport International

A host of classic cars will go under the hammer at Autosport International, Europe's biggest motorsport show, at Birmingham's NEC on 11 January 2014 through automobile auctioneers Coys.

As part of the 9-12 January event, 56 cars will be open to bidding including both racing and road cars. There will be a variety of manufacturers included in the auction, such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

Among the highlights, a 1969 Lancia Fulvia Spider Fiori & Maglioli, one of only three produced and believed to be the sole remaining survivor, will be up for auction. Evolved from the HF coupé, it was created after team manager and driver, Cesare Fiori and Claudio Maglioli, noticed drivers suffering from heat exhaustion. Removing the roof and shortening the chassis, the body was stiffened with rigid tubular framework and everything superfluous taken off the car.

The second of the three produced, chassis ‘00200' is well-known to Lancia fans. It has a celebrated racing history including second at the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally, first in class at the 1,000km of Nürburgring and first at the 1969 Rally del Medterraneo. In original condition, this is an iconic car expected to make between £210,000 and £230,000.

Also from Lancia is the 1970 Fulvia 1.6 HF Falcone with an estimated value of £47,000 to £57,000, offering a rare opportunity to buy a Fanalone. Having never been raced and with just 21,750 miles on the clock, the car retains its original paintwork and as most Fanalones were raced, it is very unlikely that you can find a more original car anywhere in the world.

The 1960 Lotus 20, chassis number 20-J-944, will also be auctioned at the show. Built as a successor to the Lotus 18, the vehicle is renowned as being the most authentic Lotus 20 worldwide, including its original 998cc engine. The vehicle is complete with an impressive history file containing photos of the car being driven at the Palm Springs Vintage Grand Prix in 1985 by British race driver Innes Ireland, who tasted success in Formula One.

The Lotus has been raced approximately six times since an extensive restoration in 2008, including victory in Formula Junior 1,000cc class series in both 2010 and 2011 and is expected to fetch between £40,000 and £50,000.

"The Coys auction is always a popular part of Autosport International, attracting a wide range of motoring enthusiasts," said Autosport International Show Director Ian France. "Yet again there will be an impressive line-up from 25 manufacturers, providing a unique opportunity to own a classic car. The vehicles have a great history to complement our array of sporting personalities at the show this January."

These cars take pride of place among an impressive range of exotic and classic cars to tantalise automotive aficionados. Vehicles for sale include Ferrari 430 GTS Scuderia, Lamborghini Tractor DL30, Jaguar E-Type 4 Litre Supercharged, Porsche 911 3.0 RSR Specification and Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet.

The Coys auctions will take place at 12.30pm and 3.00pm on Saturday 11 January 2014 at Autosport International in Hall 20, Stands 2270 and 2280. Those wishing to bid are required to register on site and must bring two forms of ID. Telephone bids will be accepted, please visit www.coys.co.uk to register.
