Best yet for Lefebvre

Stéphane Lefebvre rated his performance in Poland last weekend as the best of his career.

The Frenchman was the leading Citroën C3 driver in fifth after demoting Teemu Suninen in the Power Stage finale, matching his result at Rallye Monte-Carlo in 2016.

But the 25-year-old Frenchman ranked his Orlen 74th Rally Poland performance in wet and muddy conditions as a better drive, after bouncing back from a disappointing 2017 season so far.

"It was a tough, but really good weekend and I think it's the best rally in my short career," he said. "It was very difficult at the start of this season and we did a lot of mistakes. I lost confidence after Portugal and I worked a lot for this rally."

Lefebvre was axed from the French squad's line-up for Rally Italia Sardegna last month as Andreas Mikkelsen was ushered into the team. That decision provided an additional spur to perform well in Poland.

"I have a big bad feeling after Sardinia and I wanted to push here and be the first C3 and it was a very fantastic weekend," added the 2014 FIA Junior and WRC 3 champion.

Lefebvre was sixth ahead of the final Paprotki speed test. He overhauled Suninen when the Finn spun his Ford Fiesta and claimed bonus points with fourth fastest time.

"I had good confidence in the first part of the stage, my method was very perfect. I tried to push but the rain started to be more and more and more. I lost some seconds in the weather conditions, but I was happy to take some points," he added.
