Yann’s the young man: Ehrlacher, 22, completes Lynk & Co-powered Cyan WTCR line-up
Rising star Yann Ehrlacher will join forces with a trio of FIA world champions after inking a deal to drive a Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 TCR in the 2019 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
The 22-year-old has been recruited to pilot the Geely Group Motorsport-developed Lynk & Co racer, which will also power Thed Björk, Yvan Muller and Andy Priaulx, who have a staggering eight FIA World Touring Car Championship titles between them.
“This is a dream coming true and I cannot imagine a better team to be in than Cyan Racing,” said Frenchman Ehrlacher, a double winner in the inaugural WTCR OSCARO season in an ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport Honda Civic Type R TCR. “I have still a lot to learn and to have Andy, Thed and Yvan as team-mates will enable me to both learn from them and at the same time set a very high target of results. While I am the youngest in the team, my ambitions are at least as high as theirs for the 2019 WTCR.”
Ehrlacher, Yvan Muller’s nephew, will test the Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car for the first time at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today (Wednesday) together with Muller and Priaulx.
Christian Dahl, CEO of Cyan Racing, has high hopes for Ehrlacher: “Yann has impressed us all with his speed and maturity relative to his young age, we haven’t seen a young talent like him in many years. He completes our line-up for the 2019 FIA WTCR in the best possible way alongside our experienced drivers.”
