WTCR wildcard Nagy takes first international win
Dániel Nagy, a podium finisher at WTCR Race of Hungary earlier this year, added another string to his bow when he claimed his first international race win at Dutch track Assen last weekend.
Nagy was handed wildcard status for his home round of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO back in April and promptly took second place behind Rob Huff in the second of the three races at the Hungaroring.
At Assen last weekend, Nagy won the first TCR Europe event for the same M1RA team he represented at WTCR Race of Hungary. WTCR OSCARO racer Jean-Karl Vernay finished second with WTCR Race of Germany wildcard Kris Richard third.
"I am really happy as this is my first international race win," said Nagy, who races at Hyundai i30 N TCR in the series. "I took a good start and in lap four, when I saw an opportunity to pass Vernay, I went for it. We had a fair battle and he was very fast, but I could keep the advantage."
There was more success for WTCR wildcards when Nagy's compatriot Attila Tassi won the second race in a Hell Energy Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR.
Meanwhile, WTCR OSCARO resumes at WTCR Race of China-Ningbo from 28-30 September.
