WTCR wildcard Fulín fights to fairy tale fifth

Petr Fulín called on all the skills he used to win the FIA European Touring Car Cup in 2017 when he charged through from P16 to fifth during his WTCR OSCARO debut in Slovakia on Sunday.

Czech Fulín was competing in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO as a wildcard entrant and impressed in his Cupra TCR, eventually coming within half a second of a place on the podium in Race 3.

"I am massively satisfied with the result," said the Fullin Race Academy driver. "Since the first practice it was really hard, we had to get used to new tyres and the whole atmosphere of the World Cup. During the weekend, we were optimising our set-up and struggled with tyres. I must say we were helped by the incident in the beginning of Race 3. But great thanks for the entire team, it was a great fight and we really had to fight for this fairy tale, for this happy ending."

Meanwhile, Slovak wildcard Andrej Studenič took, who was racing a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for the first time, scored a weekend best of P13 in Race 3.
