WTCR’s Monteiro gets extra Nürburgring Nordschleife practice
Tiago Monteiro will attempt to tame the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife not once but twice in 2019.
Venue for WTCR Race of Germany in June, the 25.378-kilometre circuit is also home of the VLN Endurance Championship, which begins with a four-hour counter, the 65. ADAC Westfalenfahrt, tomorrow.
The Portuguese, who will form part of the Honda-powered KCMG line-up in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO this season, will race a Honda Civic Type R TCR run by Dominik Fugel’s team in the VLN event, linking up with Fugel, Mike Halder and Markus Östreich.
“After a very intensive training phase we are about to start the season in Marrakech,” said Monteiro. “I will use my participation in the VLN race to gain practical experience of the ‘Green Hell’ before the final WTCR tests next week in Barcelona. I would like to thank Honda Germany and the ADAC Sachsen team for making this possible for me.”
Monteiro’s WTCR / OSCARO rivals Tom Coronel and Benjamin Leuchter will also be competing in the VLN event.
