WTCR leader Tarquini savours meeting Hyundai fans in Korea
Gabriele Tarquini got the chance to meet Hyundai fans in Korea when he visited the country last month.
Tarquini, who tops the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO heading into the Asian leg of the season, drives a Hyundai i30 N TCR for the BRC Racing Team.
During his trip, Tarquini visited Hyundai HQ in Seoul, attended the TCR Korea opener at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam where he gave passenger rides.
"The motorsport fans in Korea are very interested in Hyundai's racing activities and they are very proud of the last few years' success in circuit racing and rallying," said Tarquini, who played a key role in developing the i30 N TCR into a winner and scored the make's first victory in WTCR OSCARO. "I was surprised by the racing knowledge and they are very hungry about motorsport. At the TCR Korea race I met with journalists, photographers and a lot of fans who want to speak or take a selfie with me in the racing weekend.
"Everyone was very happy about the very first TCR event in Korea. I discovered the track with few laps in the Veloster N. I enjoyed very much the car speed and the F1-standard track and I think also all my passengers were pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Veloster N.
"On the Sunday I drove the i30 N TCR with two seats and it was even better than Saturday run because I was used to the track and the racing car. I drove 10-12 people that enjoyed very much the speed and the performance of the car.
"After visiting the Hyundai HQ in Seoul and complete some media activities I met the Korean N Fans Club in Seoul. It was my first visit to Korea and I used it also to discover the very new country for me. Seoul is amazing, a very modern city with a very efficient public transportation system."
