WRC stars headline Rallyday
Stars of the World Rally Championship past and present will entertain fans at the UK's annual Rallyday event on saturday (22 september).
M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver Elfyn Evans will headline the spectator-friendly show at the Castle Combe race circuit, alongside former Ford and Lancia factory driver Miki Biasion who will demonstrate a Martini-liveried Lancia Delta Integrale.
The Italian, who won back-to-back world titles in 1988 and 1989, is making his first appearance at Rallyday and will also be reunited with a selection of other Lancias that he drove during his career.
Event organiser Tom Davis said Biasion still holds a special place in the heart of WRC fans, 30 years after his first title success.
"We've had a lot of feedback from fans telling us how much they want to see Miki," he explained. "He's a genuine legend and the chance to bring him over and put him in a Martini-liveried Lancia Delta is just fantastic."
Evans meanwhile is set to receive a warm reception as he makes his first Rallyday appearance since he won last season's Dayinsure Wales Rally GB - his maiden WRC success.
The Welshman believes the event provides a great opportunity to see some iconic rally machinery in the flesh and to meet some of the sport's biggest names.
"I like the fact that you go in there and see so many different cars from so many different eras in the sport," Evans said. "And it's the perfect place to meet up with old friends and familiar faces. We go to Rally GB every year and there's never enough time to say hello to everybody."
Rallyday will also celebrate 50 years of the all-conquering Ford Escort Mk1 as well as commemorating the 20-year anniversary since Roger Clark - Britain's first world rally winner - passed away.
