World RX drivers excel at BRX Lydden hill event

A number of drivers continued their preparation for the FIA World Rallycross Championship and FIA European Rallycross Championship this season by competing in national events last weekend.

World RX Team Austria driver Janis Baumanis raced an RX150 buggy in the second round of the MSA British Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill and finished second overall behind championship leader Chrissy Palmer. The Latvian made use of the opportunity to sample the British circuit ahead of the fourth round of World RX in May.

Also competing at the British event were a number of Super1600 racers. Denmark's Ulrik Linnemann was forced out with engine problems, while Lithuania's Kasparas Navikas won in the Skoda Fabia he will campaign in the front-wheel drive category this season. Championship winning team Set Promotion ran three Renault Twingos at the event for Latvia's Artis Baumanis, Russia's Timur Shigaboutdinov and Norway's Magnus Bergsjobrenden, but the trio didn't start the semi-finals. The Supercar category was won by 2015 RX Talent Search finalist Dan Rooke, driving an LD Motorpsorts Citroen DS3, ahead of Euro RX competitors Mark Flaherty and James Grint.

At the Mariapocs circuit in Hungary, Tamas Pal Kiss won his second national event of the season in an ex-Team Peugeot-Hansen Peugeot 208. Fellow Euro RX racer Tamas Karai finished second, with Euro RX and World RX driver Max Pucher fourth in a World RX Team Austria Ford Fiesta. Super1600 Euro RX racer Krisztian Szabo won the Super1600 category in his Skoda Fabia.
