Why WTCR racer Vervisch can become a home hero
Frédéric Vervisch, a podium finisher in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, can become a hero in his native Belgium this weekend when he tackle's the country's toughest race, the Spa 24 Hours.
Vervisch will pilot the #25 Audi R8 LMS under the Audi Sport Team Saintéloc banner alongside German team-mates and two of last year's winners, Christopher Haase and Markus Winkelhock.
Well known for his exploits in WTCR OSCARO with Audi Sport Team Comtoyou, Vervisch will begin his bid tomorrow (Thursday) with two free practice sessions and qualifying, before the top 20 grid positions are decided during Super-Pole on Friday on the 7.004-kilometre Belgian Grand Prix layout.
Edition number 70 of the endurance classic gets underway at 16h30 CET on Saturday with 3800 kilometres of racing in store. WTCR OSCARO race winner Esteban Guerrieri is also taking part as is WTCR Race of Germany wildcard René Rast, who will drive for Team WRT, the outfit behind the Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team in WTCR OSCARO.
