Why Max Verstappen's US GP penalty was right and wrong - podcast

Max Verstappen's controversial post-United States Grand Prix Formula 1 penalty is the subject of an intense debate in the latest edition of The Autosport Podcast.

Former grand prix driver Karun Chandhok joins Autosport's Lawrence Barretto and Edd Straw to look back at the US GP, and ask whether Verstappen's penalty for passing Kimi Raikkonen outside of track limits was a fair one.

As well as Verstappen's last-lap move at Turn 16, the panel looks at several other unpunished track limits violations during the Austin weekend, and gets to the heart of the argument about the inconsistent application of the regulations.

There's also a look at the manner of Lewis Hamilton's victory and how it demonstrated he is getting better and better, as well as Ferrari's disappointment to lose a race Sebastian Vettel led early on.

Toro Rosso newboy Brendon Hartley's performance is also appraised, with an explanation of how the Red Bull-owned team is likely to select its 2018 driver line-up.
