- Tom already crowned as Best Privateer two years ago
- Fourth place for Dutch BMW Driver in 51st BMW Sports Trophy
Eemnes, December 12th, 2012 - The 2012 motor racing season has finished and that means that the time has come to award the trophies after a long season full of exciting races. The annual TouringCarTimes Awards are among the most coveted ones, a poll in which Dutch WTCC driver Tom Coronel already came out on top in the Privateer category two years ago. This year, Tom has been nominated for the Best Driver title, while ROAL Motorsport and Tom's BMW 320 TC are also in contention for the 2012 Awards.
British motorsport website TouringCarTimes is one of the world's most renowned and best-informed sites about touring car racing. The site is visited frequently by the international touring car racing fan base, but also by the drivers themselves. This year, the website once again is organising its annual TouringCarTimes Awards, in which visitors can cast their votes for Best Driver, Best Team and Best Car from the world's most popular touring car categories (WTCC, BTCC, DTM, STCC and TTA). The winners from the various categories will be pitched against each other in the 'grand finale', in order to determine the overall winner of the 2012 TouringCarTimes Awards.
Two years ago, Tom Coronel already won the title as a privateer driver and is determined to win the award for Best Driver this year. In the categories Best Team and Best Car, ROAL Motorsport and the BMW 320 TC, Tom's 'office' during the WTCC weekends, are also candidates.

Tom fourth in BMW Sports Trophy Awards
The TouringCarTimes Award is not the only competition in which Tom Coronel was aiming for an accolade. Last week, the 51st prize-giving ceremony of the BMW Sports Trophy Award was held in Misact, Germany. This prize for the best privateer drivers competing with BMW cars in various categories all over the world is being organised by BMW Motorsport very year.
Tom ended up a fine fourth in the BMW Sports Trophy Awards. First prize, a cheque of 30,000 Euros and a track test with a BMW M3 DTM, went to Thomas Biagi (Italian GT Championship & International Superstars Series), who, just like Tom, is competing for Italian BMW team, ROAL Motorsport. Maxime Martin (Blancpain Endurance Series & ADAC GT Masters) was classified second ahead of third-placed Norbert Michelisz, who, again like Tom, is racing in the WTCC with a BMW 320 TC.
"The end of the season is the time in which the trophies are being given," says Tom. "I already have won a few this year, but none for a victory. Of course, I am very proud of my fourth place in the BMW Sports Trophy Award, but I have my eyes set on the Best Driver title in the 2012 TouringCarTimes Awards, because I want to add a first prize to my trophy cabinet this year. On top of that, I also hope that my team ROAL Motorsport will win a prize, because the guys once again did a perfect job this season."
In the 2012 FIA WTCC season, Tom Coronel is being supported by: McGregor, TW Steel -big in oversized watches-, AkzoNobel stickerfixtm , De Wild signing, Loading Systems, Boretti, Intrax, Holiday Cars, Saarloos, Hanscan and Beelen.
