To heaven from hell for ERC leader Kajetanowicz

Kajetan Kajetanowicz says he went from "hell to heaven" after fighting back on the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally to extend his FIA European Rally Championship lead.

The LOTOS Rally Team driver lost around 15 minutes as a result of rolling his Ford Fiesta R5 on the very first stage, but he and co-driver Jarek Baran won eight of the remaining 11 stages to finish eighth overall.

That gave Kajetanowicz four points, to which he added seven for being fastest of all on the second leg, meaning he's added to his advantage over Alexey Lukyanuk, who ended up 10th after leading at the end of day one.

He said: "Yesterday, after the opening stage, we were in hell. Now we feel as if we were in heaven.

"It was a huge character-building test. I think we did it for our families, for the whole team and partners, for our fans. We probably deserved it. It was not easy to bounce back after such big time loss.

"We fought until the end and we are proud as we put on a good show on stages which used to feature in the World Rally Championship rounds. It made me feel fulfilled. I love rallies because I can fight to the last metre, because they give me a lot of emotions and I can test my abilities in unusual situations."
