SUPERSTARS: Thomas Biagi vows to defend his lead in Slovakia

Thomas Biagi is ready to be back on a move for round 3 of the 2013 SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES set for the next 9th of June at Slovakia Ring.

The Bologna-based ace, driving for the manufacturer-backed Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris team, is set to try to do it all again after having scored wins in both the first two events at Monza and Brno. The 2010 SUPERSTARS champion will be once again in control of a Mercedes C63 AMG.

Did you expect such a strong start for your 2013 season?

I definitely knew I had made the right choice, and the switch to a prestigious brand like Mercedes-Benz has been an additional motivation to push harder than ever. From the deal to Monza's podium finishes, it was all so quick. Most part of the credit goes to the team as they made me feel like I was part of the family.

What do you expect from your car in Slovakia?

It won't be easy with the 40-kilo ballast due to the win at Brno. The tires and brakes will be put at test, but I'm persuaded that we'll have a good chance to shine there. I don't know the track, but as soon as Monday I'll be practicing it with the simulator in order to be ready for the first session.

How is it going with your team-mate now that you're both fighting for the title?

I decided to join Mercedes-AMG Romeo Ferraris also because I knew Liuzzi was going to be my team-mate. We work a lot together. He's a really committed professional and we can work together as a team. Luckily, in our team we breath an air of serenity.

Who is going to be your toughest rival apart from Liuzzi?

I think that Morbidelli on the Audi and Ferrara with the C63 AMG Coupé will be tough to beat. BMW also showed to be more competitive than last year, as the M3 E92 got a 30-kg break and some valuable aero developments that made them very quick in the most technical corners. The SUPERSTARS fans won't get bored this season!

What are the main differences between the BMW and the Mercedes?

They are two completely different cars. The first is a coupé, the second is a very powerful sedan, it has more power but also more weight to manage in corners. Thanks to the Balance of Performance, they are both competitive but nontheless, the differences are huge . The C63 has a sensational engine that reminds me the Ferrari 550. I got a lot of wins then and I hope to do the same again in SUPERSTARS.
