Superstars: Brand-new Chevrolet Camaro leaves its mark at Monza
It's been an all-clear weekend at Monza for the Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro. The American muscle car made it SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES debut by cruising into the top-5 and becoming the hit of the day among the championship's fans.
The quick Francesco Sini sat behind the wheel of the car, proving consistent straight out of the box. In Race 1 he battled his way up against both the BMW M3 machinery of Berton and Mugelli, the Mercedes C63 AMG of Andrea Bacci and the Jaguar XFR of Andrea Larini making his way into the top-5. In Race 2, he ended up in 6th to top the all-black Jaguar of Diabolik.
"We're still not 100% yet - told Sini - the car performed great in preseason testing, but during the races we suffered from some front end issues which we think will be fixed for Brno. We're satisfied with what we achieved at Monza, as the Mercedes cars were just unbeatable, but honestly, the greatest aspect has been the crowd. I lost count of the people who asked to take photos with the Camaro, our true star... Now I'm focused on the next round and we're working on optimizing the car, we expect it to become one strong contender this season".
With 31.000 people on the grandstand at Monza throughout the weekend, the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES is set to be back on-track at Brno, a first-time venue in the 10-year history of the championship.
