Shedden: WTCR will be the ultimate

Gordon Shedden is ready to test himself in the “ultimate touring car championship” as he revs up for his second WTCR OSCARO bid.

Shedden, the three-time British Touring Car champion, stepped up to the WTCR for 2018 in an Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team RS 3 LMS for his maiden international campaign, when a win in China proved the highlight.

He will continue under Audi power this season when he plans to build on experience gained – a lessons learned – in 2018.

“It’s going to be mega, the ultimate,” said Shedden. “We’re going to have the best of touring cars, of GTs, of young drivers, a bit of everything, and that’s brilliant.

“Our season was all about laying the foundations for [2019]. Apart from Macau I’d not raced at any of the other circuits before; I’m confident that what we’ve learned, admittedly sometimes under the radar, will put us in better stead.

“We learned every weekend and it’s all been added to the knowledge bank, and I’m happy that we’ll start [this] year in a better place. We know everyone will take a step forward, but I do think that we’ll hit the ground running and be in a much better place in 2019.”
