Shedden hoping for handling fix or new car in WTCR

Gordon Shedden is hoping his Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team can find the problem that blighted his WTCR Race of Slovakia and get his season back on track when the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO resumes in China after the summer break.

Shedden blamed a non-scoring weekend at the Slovakia Ring on a mystery handling issue affecting his Audi RS 3 LMS. But with his car and those of his rivals due to be shipped to China next month, the Scot admits time is not on his side, suggesting a change of Audis might provide salvation.

"It's been a frustrating weekend," said the triple British Touring Car champion. "The car's just not handling properly and we don't know why. That put us in the wrong part in the field and [we were] getting caught up in silly accidents by drivers who we shouldn't be near.

"We just don't can't get the same lap times out of it as everyone else; there are also odd sounds coming from the car under braking. We desperately need to sort it before the cars go off to China, as if we have the same problem when we're out there, the rest of the season is almost a write-off.

"I know the team are working hard on the problem, and hopefully we can find some time to back-to-back test the cars somewhere before the race cars go on the boat to China in August so we can confirm the problem and come up with a plan, even if that means changing cars."
