Second “a massive bonus” on ERC Junior Ingram’s Opel bow
ERC Junior contender Chris Ingram hailed his second-place finish in class on the FIA European Rally Championship's Circuit of Ireland as "a massive bonus" on his Opel Motorsport debut.
After spending the first leg getting to grips with his new Opel Adam R2, Ingram climbed to second in ERC Junior on the final day, finishing just 11.5 seconds behind the winner Łukasz Pieniążek.
Describing the rally as "a dream start" with Opel, the 21-year-old said: "For my first time in the awesome Adam R2, and with Kat [Becker] co-driving, I accepted I had to learn and try to finish this tough event, but to come away with second is a massive bonus and puts us in a brilliant championship position going to the Azores.
"Danke! to the Opel Motorsport team for preparing an awesome car and team environment, and thanks to Kat for doing such a great job co-driving for me for the first time under pressure. I would also like to thank my title partner for the event Andrews Sykes - Andrews Heat for Hire, and everyone who has supported and encouraged us on the way to this result. Bring on the Azores!"
