Sauber Formula 1 team announces launch date for 2017 car

Sauber will release images of its 2017 Formula 1 car two days before its filming day later this month.

The Swiss F1 outfit will complete a filming day at Barcelona on February 22, which was expected to be the first time its C36 was seen.

However it will now launch the car on social media two days beforehand, on February 20, in what is currently the first scheduled launch of a revamped 2017 car.

While Sauber is sticking with Ferrari's 2016 engine, it has managed to avoid a repeat of having to run a year-old car in the first pre-season test.

Pascal Wehrlein joins the team in 2017, to partner Marcus Ericsson, but his participation in the first test is not guaranteed, based on a neck injury he sustained in last month's Race of Champions event.
