Rally Liepāja is go in 100 days and planning of ERC event “moving forward successfully”
Organisers of Rally Liepāja, round three of the 2019 FIA European Rally Championship, have confirmed planning of the substantially new route is “moving forward successfully” with 100 days to go until the gravel event gets underway.
Raimonds Strokšs, the driving force behind the Latvian rally from 24-26 May, also confirmed that the route revisions will result in a number of classic stages being included in the itinerary.
“With Rally Liepāja moving from mid-October to the last weekend of May, an idea came along to implement a major update to our event taking place in Latvia,” said Strokšs. “Much to our delight, the planning process is moving forward successfully and we are very, very close to securing special stages classified as the ‘golden fund’ area between two Latvian cities of Talsi and Liepāja. “Back in the day, when I was still competing at the wheel of the rally car, I completed all the special stages myself – if our vision comes through, we will prove the good can sometimes get even better.”
Strokšs added: “From a practical standpoint, the ticket sales are going live pretty soon. Rally Guide 1 is soon to be published – so spectators, and competitors will have their first bits of official information to start planning their visit to Rally Liepāja.”
