Priaulx set for endurance test ahead of first WTCR season

Andy Priaulx will put his endurance racing skills to the test when he returns to FIA World Endurance Championship duty in Sebring, USA, from today (Wednesday).

The three-time FIA World Touring Car champion and part of the Lynk & Co-powered attack in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO this season, will partner Jonathan Bomarito and Harry Ticknell in the #67 Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT.

“I have such happy memories of racing in the Sebring 12 Hours in the past,” said Priaulx. “It is an amazing track but not an easy one to master. Obviously we will ‘only’ be driving for two thirds of the time I have been used to there in the past, as this is a 1000-mile race, but that will still prove immensely challenging.”

Briton Priaulx continued: “It will be great to be back in the car after such a long gap, but this will be no walk in the park for any of us as it is a bumpy track and the competition in our class is very fierce. Driving at night is always fun, but it is not that well lit so you have to be extra concentrated.”

The WEC 1000 Miles of Sebring begins at 16h00 local time on Friday.
