Oriola races on after WTCR season showdown
Pepe Oriola isn’t quite done with racing hard in 2018 with the Spaniard contesting the China Touring Car Championship finale in Shanghai this weekend.
After placing sixth in the final WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO standings following the Macau season showdown – a single point shy of fourth spot – Oriola remained on Chinese soil to link up with the Changan Ford FRD Team for what will be his CTCC debut.
The Ford outfit is chasing the CTCC’s makes’ prize and has recruited Oriola to boost its chances. A WTCR OSCARO race winner in Slovakia earlier this season, Oriola appears on an entry list that also features three other WTCR racers, André Couto, Rob Huff and Ma Qing Hua.
Oriola was twice in the points in Macau for the Team OSCARO by Campos Racing squad with fellow Cupra driver and team-mate John Filippi scoring a weekend high of P11 in Race 2.
