New prize structure for Dmack

Competitors in this season's drive Dmack Fiesta Trophy will have a better chance to win a drive in the 2017 FIA World Rally Championship following a reshuffle of the prize structure.

The Trophy, which features in five rounds of the WRC, will continue to offer prize drives in next year's WRC 2 support series. But organisers will split the award to open up the opportunity to more drivers.

Trophy rounds will be paired, with the driver accumulating the most points at each of the three sets of linked events winning the chance to drive a Ford Fiesta R5 on two WRC 2 rounds next year.

The opening round at Vodafone Rally de Portugal (19 - 22 May) will be paired with Lotos 73rd Rally Poland (30 June - 3 July). Poland will also be linked with Neste Rally Finland (28 - 31 July), while the asphalt ADAC Rally Deutschland (18 - 21 August) will join the mixed surface RallyRACC Catalunya - Rally de España (13 - 16 October).

A seventh prize drive will be awarded to the crew which scores the best result at its two WRC 2 outings.

DMACK managing director Dick Cormack said the proposals would boost the series even further by giving more drivers the opportunity to win.

"The format will appeal to drivers from countries like Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Finland who can win four WRC 2 events by competing on the gravel rallies," he said.
