Muller in “salvage mode” for Cyan Racing Lynk & Co in WTCR
Four-time FIA World Touring Car champion Yvan Muller was in “salvage mode” as he and fellow Lynk & Co drivers Thed Björk, Yann Ehrlacher and Andy Priaulx struggled for form at WTCR Race of Slovakia.
The Geely Group Motorsport-developed machines from China carried the most weight and also had their power reduced under rules designed to create a level playing field among the seven customer racing brands competing in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.
Muller, who was P11 in Races 1 and 2, said: “This was the best we could salvage from this weekend. This was the first time for us with the new car on a fast circuit and with the weight, as well as the reduced power, this was never going to be easy.”
Björk emulated Cyan Racing Lynk & Co team-mate Muller by maintaining his P11 starting position on the Race 3 grid and admitted there would be plenty of hard work ahead prior to this weekend’s WTCR Race of Netherlands.
“It was a really difficult race weekend as we lost so much time on the straights,” said the Swede. “But we managed to get some points with us at least and with just a couple of days left to the next race in Zandvoort, we have some long nights ahead of us.”
Cyan Performance Lynk & Co drivers Ehrlacher and Priaulx were unable to score at the Slovakia Ring.
