Mick Schumacher misses out on Italian F4 title at Monza

Mick Schumacher has finished runner-up in the Italian F4 championship in the final round at Monza, to couple with his second place finish the ADAC F4 championship in 2016.

Son of seven-time F1 world champion Michael, Schumacher headed into the final round at Monza 25 points off Marcos Siebert and ultimately missed out on the title after sustaining damage in a collision in race two with Sebastian Fernandez and Juri Vips which under black and orange flags was forced to pit to drop to 25th.

With Siebert finishing fifth place the Argentinean driver sealed the Italian F4 championship with a race to spare.

Despite the disappointment Schumacher did impress again in the final round having won the opening race and taking second place in the final race of the season.

Earlier this year Schumacher lost out to Australian Joey Mawson on the ADAC German F4 title by 52 points.

The German 17-year-old is now being strongly linked with a move up to the FIA European Formula 3 championship with current team Prema, who wrapped up this year's title with F1-bound Lance Stroll.
