Michael Schumacher showing ‘encouraging signs’ – Brawn

Ross Brawn says Michael Schumacher is showing 'encouraging signs' as part of his ongoing convalescence following the serious head injury he suffered in a skiing accident almost three years ago.

The racing legend was initially left in an induced coma following the accident in December 2013 and it was recently revealed in a court case that Schumaacher 'cannot walk'. However, the full extent of his condition has been kept out of the wider media whilst he is cared for in his home in Geneva, Switzerland.

It is privacy that Brawn - who worked with Schumacher on each of his seven world titles with Benetton and Ferrari - says he is keen to respect, though he adds he does show 'encouraging signs' for progress, even if he reveals most of the external speculation about his condition is incorrect.

"The family have chosen to conduct Michael's convalescence in private and I must respect that," he told the BBC

"There are encouraging signs and we are all praying every day that we see more of them. So it is difficult for me to say very much and respect the family's privacy.

"All I would say is there is a lot of speculation about Michael's condition. Most of it's wrong and we just pray and hope every day that we continue to see some progress and that one day we can see Michael out and about and recovered from his terrible injuries."
