Lessennes targets WTCR top three after “incredible” result
Teenager Benjamin Lessennes is thinking big after another fine performance in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, this time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The 18-year-old Ring rookie, in his first season of international racing, backed up his fifth place at the Hungaroring last month with fourth place in Race 3 at WTCR Race of Germany today.
Needing special permission to miss school and take part in the event, Lessennes once again belied his lack of experience to come good in his Boutsen Ginion Racing Honda.
"The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most difficult circuit in the world, and I've just finished fourth, which is just incredible," said the Belgian. "The speed has been there all weekend - just like in Hungary - so I knew this kind of result was possible.
"In Race 2 I had contact from Rob Huff, which put me out on the first lap, but the team did a fantastic job to fix my car in the [OSCARO.com] Repair Time. Without that I'd never have had the great result in Race 3. The next aim has to go one step better and finish on the podium."
