Kasperczyk “one step closer” after error-free ERC Acropolis run

Tomasz Kasperczyk scored FIA European Rally Championship points for the second time from as many starts in 2016 with an error-free run on the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally.

After losing time on the first stage of the event due to overheating brakes on his Tiger Energy Drink Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5, the Polish driver and navigator Damian Syty climbed from 15th place to seventh over the two days as the famously demanding event took its toll on other competitors. The result followed their 10th place on the season opener in Gran Canaria.

"This was rally to include among our most successful," said 24-year-old Kasperczyk, who was competing on gravel for the first time since last July's auto24 Rally Estonia. "The first stage was a shame, as I recorded a large loss which we then had to make up. From the second stage I found a rhythm and consistently improved.

"The Acropolis Rally was another invaluable experience. I think we are one step closer to learning rallying."
