Huff aims for WTCR title after second season with SLR confirmed
Rob Huff wants to be a “contender for the title” when he embarks on a second WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO campaign with Sébastien Loeb Racing.
Briton Huff, the 2012 FIA World Touring Car champion, won twice and claimed the DHL Pole Position on four occasions in WTCR OSCARO this season.
However, point-less weekends in Portugal and Slovakia and a troubled China double-header wrecked his title challenge, making him as determined as ever to capture a second world crown in 2019, when he will join forces with existing team-mate Mehdi Bennani and new SLR recruit Johan Kristoffersson.
“I am delighted to be tackling the WTCR with Sébastien Loeb Racing once again and I hope to be a contender for the title,’ said Huff, 38. “It’s great that Volkswagen has decided to up its involvement in the [WTCR] to four Golf GTI [TCRs]. One of my new team-mates will be Johan Kristoffersson, who has a more than impressive WRX season under his belt. And he is already familiar with the Golf GTI TCR. Working with him will no doubt be exciting.”
