Homola backs Bánki for Esports WTCR OSCARO glory

Mato Homola has backed his fellow Slovak Bence Bánki to continue his impressive start to the Esports WTCR OSCARO Multiplayer Championship.

Homola is a winner in the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO, while Bánki heads the online equivalent following his success in the inaugural race at a virtual Hungaroring on Sunday evening.

"It doesn't matter from which sport, tennis, motorsport or Esports, it's great to promote Slovakia and it's great we have really good drivers," said Homola, who claimed his maiden WTCR OSCARO victory in Portugal back in June driving a DG Sport Compétition PEUGEOT 308TCR. "Esports reflects really good driving ability and its valued in the high level because it's close to reality. I know the championship is long but I hope [Bence] will survive in first place and I wish him really good luck because it's not easy with many good drivers."

Homola helped RaceRoom, the company behind Esports WTCR OSCARO, to develop the cars used in the racing simulation. "The cars are really cool, really close to reality," said Homola. "The opinions from the other [WTCR OSCARO] drivers is that it's fun to drive and they like the championship."

A virtual Nürburgring Nordschleife is the setting of the next Esports WTCR OSCARO round on 2 September with race night getting underway at 19h00 CET.
