He’s on my Timo! Scheider’s stablemates welcome new WTCR recruit

Yann Ehrlacher and Esteban Guerrieri have welcomed new team-mate Timo Scheider to ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport for the Asia leg of the WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO.

The German squad announced yesterday that the two-time DTM champion would pilot its third Honda Civic Type R TCR for the China double-header plus the standalone events in Japan and Macau.

Ehrlacher, currently fourth in the WTCR OSCARO points, said German Scheider was a hero to him when he was growing up. "James [Thompson] was as well a very good team-mate and it's a shame he's not with us for the rest of the season of course," said the 22-year-old from France. "But for sure Timo is one of the best drivers ever in DTM so it's good to have him on board. He's like a hero for me. I was watching all the DTM racing when I was young and he was already there."

Guerrieri, a winner at WTCR Race of Germany in May, said: "When I was in Formula 3 he was racing DTM so I've heard his name for quite a long time. He's a double DTM champion so he's a great driver with very good experience. It's a good asset for giving information and working in the right direction. Even though he doesn't have experience with front-wheel drive, he will get [it] very quickly. I will also profit from his experience and try to learn a lot and become myself a better driver. I'm very happy and happy for the team to get this deal done."

WTCR Race of China-Ningbo will mark the first time ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport's tweaked Honda-powered line-up will be on track together. The event takes place from 28-30 September.
