Gryc ‘overwhelmed’ by ERC atmosphere in Gran Canaria

Tomasz Gryc says he was "overwhelmed" by the atmosphere in Gran Canaria on his way to an ERC3 podium on the opening round of the FIA European Rally Championship.

Gryc finished third in his class on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés, driving a Peugeot 208 R2 under the same Rallytechnology banner as the category winner Łukasz Habaj.

"Rally Islas Canarias was the next big challenge for us and I am very happy we did cross the finish line and stand on the third step of the podium in ERC3," he said.

"I must admit the rally atmosphere overwhelmed me. It was something fantastic, like a rally fiesta. The number of fans we met in the Service Park, on access roads and stages cannot be compared to any other event I have participated. Until you see it, you will not believe how many of them attended and supported each team during this event.

"Our result is decent despite of not having big experience in racing on such demanding stages with a very abrasive surface which was lethal for tyres. We are aware that we have many things to work on before the next rallies. We need to analyse our telemetry and also we need to work on pace notes - they need to be more precise. We want to improve.

"I am very pleased I had an opportunity to take part in this event. It was a good lesson which provided us a lot of useful knowledge.
