Grosjean relishes Haas upgrades for final push

Romain Grosjean is relishing the prospect of potential performance gains from a fresh raft of Haas updates which will be introduced by the Singapore Grand Prix.

Haas team principal Gunther Steiner has confirmed an updated front wing, floor and rear brake ducts will all be introduced after the summer break after rigorous testing at the team's factory.

Grosjean is intrigued to see the level of improvement the new parts can produce and is confident they can help close the gap in performance towards the pole position shootout in qualifying in order to launch Haas up the field in the intense midfield battle.

"If we believe what we see in the wind tunnel, it's a good update so that's great," Grosjean said. "Of course, you always wish it'd come earlier but it's a great thing. For some reason we have not got 100% of the potential of the car yet.

"Definitely in qualifying there is something we need to improve and the tyres are very sensitive and tricky. Then two tenths were like five places on the grid. That's a lot and we're not far from Q3.

"There are a lot of positives, there's some interesting stuff coming for Spa in terms of the way we set up the car and then yeah Singapore there is an update and it should be even better."

Despite confirming Haas has switched its development focus to 2017 in July, Steiner says the upgrades have been in an intense prototype stage over the summer and is confident the team can enjoy instant gains when they're applied in Singapore.

"We didn't do big developments on car because we focused on next year because the second year is the always the more difficult one. We switched over since a month now," Steiner said. "The 2016 model car is gone, we don't have one anymore, it's a 2017 now.

"We still have some parts for Singapore, I hope they work, we developed them a few months ago and we tried to make more points."
