Gran Canaria the first of seven for Kasperczyk in the ERC

Tomasz Kasperczyk scored a first FIA European Rally Championship point on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés, one of seven rounds he plans to contest in 2016.

Driving a Ford Fiesta R5 like he's campaigned in the Polish championship over the past two seasons, 23-year-old Kasperczyk and co-driver Damian Syty enjoyed a clean run in Gran Canaria to finish 10th overall, climbing five places during the second leg.

"Looking back it was a very successful rally," he said "It is true that on the first day I was not happy with the pace, I had trouble finding it, among others, with weather conditions posing difficulties with tyre selection. On Saturday this was not a problem, we saw an opportunity to rebound and used it - we went much faster, which ultimately led us to the top ten of the rally.

The next ERC appearance for Kasperczyk and the Tiger Energy Rally Team will be the SEATJETS Acropolis Rally in May before the Azores Airlines Rally a month later. He will also contest the auto24 Rally Estonia, his home event Rally Rzeszow, Barum Czech Rally Zlín and Rally Liepāja.

He added: "Already after the first rally I know that competing in the European Championship was a very good choice. Here, all the rallies significantly different from each other, it's a great training ground for collecting experience."
