Freddy Loix takes a television star on a date with ERC

Freddy Loix, who has starred on both the world championship and the FIA European Rally Championship in the past, prepared for his home event in Ypres by taking a very special television star out for a spin recently.

The orange Opel Kadett that he drove in a demonstration on a rallysprint stage to celebrate the countdown to the Kenotek Ypres Rally was formerly the star of Belgian soap opera Eigen Kweek, filmed close to the rally stages in Heuvelland.

In the series, a Belgian potato farmer loses all his crops and decides to grow marijuana instead.

"It was great fun to be given the opportunity to drive the Kadett that had played such a major role in Eigen Kweek: a series I followed on television, even when I was living in France," said Loix. "It was a great promotion and everyone knows that I have a special bond with the Ypres Rally. This year I will be going flat out for an 11th victory."
