Five things learned as WTCR OSCARO begins in Morocco

The WTCR - FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO got off to hugely exciting and successful start at WTCR AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco last weekend. Here are five things learned at the completion of battle in Marrakech.

1 Tarquini has still got it: He might only be four years away from claiming a pension in some European countries, but Gabriele Tarquini proved once again that age is no barrier to success with a win double for the BRC Racing Team.

2 Win on Sunday, sell on Monday: Tarquini's popularity at Hyundai Motorsport's customer racing division increased further on Sunday evening when he used the final press conference of the weekend to promote sales of the Hyundai i30 N TCR: "The car is on the market. You can buy it if you want!" he said.

3 Even the best make mistakes: World Touring Car champion Thed Björk's momentary power loss - and loss of position to Yvan Muller - in Race 3 wasn't the result of a technical glitch but an error by the swift Swede (pictured). "I turned the car off. It was a small mistake from my side and I have to learn not to do that."

4 Guerrieri turns inventor: Esteban Guerrieri used his on-track clash with John Filippi in Race 3 to invent a new word: Filippi'd. "My start in Race 3 wasn't so good, but then I got Filippi'd and that was that," the Argentine said. In Filippi's defence, the stewards didn't deem the incident to be worthy of any action.

5 Vernay is a risk-taker: Jean-Karl Vernay admitted he "took a risk" to claim his maiden WTCR OSCARO win. Following his Race 2 triumph, the Audi Sport Leopard Lukoil Team driver said: "The start was a little bit tight. I took a risk because I wanted to win this race, to prove to my team they took the right choice in signing me."
