Fitting full entry for Shelsley Walsh finale

A full entry list has been announced for the Autumn Speed Finale that takes place at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb this weekend.

With several special classes for invited car clubs, the event hosts two separate days of competition featuring a wide variety of cars and motorcycles.

Members of the Porsche Club, TR Register and National Hill Climb Association Motorcycles will join large entries of Aston Martin, Morgan, Westfield, TVR, Austin Healey, Reliant Scimitar and Ferrari sports cars to race against the clock up the narrow and demanding Worcestershire course, renowned as the oldest track in continuous use in the world.

Many individual championships are nearing completion and could possibly be decided at Shelsley Walsh. This will be the penultimate round of the Ferrari Owners Hill Climb Championship with Nick Taylor in a 430 and Richard Prior in a 355 just about neck and neck in the present standings.

Even closer is the BARC SBD Speed Championship where Clive Wooster in a Radical SR4 has 187.33 points, while Philip Wood in a Westfield SEi has 186.60 and Chris Berrisford in a Subaru Impreza has 186.24, so very much all to play for with two rounds remaining after Shelsley Walsh.

The Morgan Sports Car Club Championship, again with two further rounds to go, is currently led by John Stephens, from Chris Bailey, with Alan Foster and Clive Glass not too far behind. The Porsche Club Speed Championship meanwhile has clear leaders in each class, consisting of drivers Graham Rose, Tim Baker, Wayne Eason and Donald Peach.

Alongside these famous marque car clubs, regular Midland Automobile Club members will take part in diverse competition machines ranging from classic Mini Coopers and Ford Escorts, to Caterhams, latest technology motorcycle-engined racing cars and big V8-engined single seater racing cars.

With the season drawing to a close, many final positions in championships for invited clubs are yet to be decided so competition is expected to be fierce, with the action starting with practice and qualifying at 9am each day, followed by timed competitions runs in programme order with full commentary in the afternoon.
