F1 US GP: Magnussen fighting for Renault seat despite Hulkenberg blow

Kevin Magnussen says he is still determined to continue his F1 journey with Renault despite the confirmation Nico Hulkenberg is joining the team in 2017.

The former McLaren driver returned to F1 in 2016 with Renault following a year on the sidelines but has only cracked the top ten on two occasions as the French firm struggles for consistently competitive form amidst its own comeback season as a constructor.

With Renault known to have been chasing a high-profile name for 2017, Hulkenberg was last week confirmed to be making the move from Force India for next season, while Esteban Ocon is tipped to be favourite for the remaining seat.

Despite the set-back, Magnussen - whilst dismissing rumours he will be heading to IndyCar next season - insists he is committed to fighting for his seat with Renault to 'stay for many years to come'.
