F1 Singapore GP: Mercedes and Ferrari differ on Singapore tyre selections

Ferrari has opted for an aggressive tyre strategy for the Singapore Grand Prix with a focus on ultra-soft rubber as it looks to repeat its win from last year.

On a weekend that saw Mercedes unusually struggle, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel romped to victory in the 2015 Singapore Grand Prix from Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen.

It is a result the Scuderia is keen to repeat with an eye-catching strategy of choosing nine sets of ultra-soft tyres, while Vettel will differ from Raikkonen with its two super-softs and two soft compound tyres, compared with his team-mate's three red, one yellow.

Mercedes, meanwhile, have favoured seven sets of ultra-softs each for Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg with minor differentials in super soft (3 for Hamilton, 2 for Rosberg) and soft compounds (3 for Hamilton, 4 for Rosberg).

Elsewhere, Red Bull has followed Mercedes' lead with seven ultra-soft compounds, while Haas and Marcus Ericsson have mirrored Ferrari with nine sets.

Force India, meanwhile, have opted for four soft compound sets to just six ultra-soft compounds.
