F1 Mexican GP: Pirelli confirms tyre options for Mexico

Pirelli has selected the super-soft, soft and medium compound tyres for this year's Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

After the Mexican race returned to the F1 calendar after a 21-year absence at the revamped Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, last year Pirelli selected the soft and medium tyres.

After relatively low tyre degradation on the new track last year Pirelli has opted to bring the super-soft compound as well as the soft and medium tyres as part of the new tyre rules for 2016.

An extra set of super-softs will be given to the top ten qualifiers for Q3 and all drivers must use at least one set of the softs or mediums during the Grand Prix of United States.

Each team and driver will now make its selection of the 10 remaining sets with a minimum one set of each compound given by Pirelli.

The Mexican Grand Prix is set to host the 19th round of the 2016 F1 championship at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on the 28-30 October.
