F1 Malaysian GP: Rosberg hunts four-in-a-row with title advantage

Nico Rosberg says he only has eyes on extending his current winning run with a maiden victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix having wrestled back the F1 world championship advantage from Lewis Hamilton.

The German driver takes an eight-point lead to Sepang in the F1 standings over Mercedes team-mate Hamilton having rediscovered his winning momentum from the start of the year.

Rosberg's form of victories has come in huge waves in 2016 with four straight wins at the beginning of the season before stepping on to the top of the rostrum just once (Baku) in the following eight races.

Having maximised his opportunity in Spa with Hamilton starting at the back of the gird, Rosberg is aiming to repeat his early season feat of four-in-a-row to put additional points between himself and Hamilton, while also expecting the usual threat from Red Bull and Ferrari.

"I've had a good run lately and I'm enjoying the moment. But as far as the next race goes, or the next one after that and so on... it's anyone's game," Rosberg said. "Red Bull and Ferrari are both pushing us really hard, so there will be some tough weekends ahead.

"It's exciting for the fans and pushes us even harder to keep improving, so that's a great thing. Malaysia didn't work out perfectly for us last year, so if we can win it this time against such tough opposition that would be really awesome."

Despite his increasingly impressive F1 record, having scored his 22nd career Grand Prix win last time out in Singpore, Rosberg has never tasted victory at Sepang with a best result of second place in 2014.

Rosberg is aware he will rarely have a better opportunity going into a race at Sepang with the momentum of three wins capped by a 'perfect weekend' in Singapore last time out.

"Singapore was a perfect weekend for me," Rosberg said. "I felt great in the car, had a fantastic qualifying, made a strong start and then came out on top after a really intense battle with Daniel (Ricciardo) at the end of the race, which made the win all the more fulfilling.

"The team did such an impressive job understanding what went wrong last year and turning it around. I'm massively proud of everyone for that. It's an incredible position to be in as a driver, knowing you have a shot at winning every weekend."
