F1 Italian GP: Marchionne unhappy with Ferrari results, admits Arrivabene

Maurizio Arrivabene has revealed Sergio Marchionne has been left unimpressed with Ferrari's results this season, even if he maintains the Ferrari president is satisfied with the steps being taken to revive the team's fortunes.

Having returned to winning ways in 2015 under Arrivabene's stewardship, Ferrari had hoped to take a step closer to Mercedes in 2016 but has largely struggled for consistent form in the wake of growing competition from Red Bull Racing.

Slipping to third in the constructors' standings ahead of the summer break, media reports suggested Marchionne is dissatisfied with the progress being made, which in turn has raised questions as to whether he will keep Arrivabene at the helm of the F1 team.

Though Arrivabene has repeatedly dodged suggestions his position is under threat, at Ferrari's home Monza round - which saw the team secure its first podium since the Austrian Grand Prix - he conceded the lack of wins has cast a shadow.

"He [Marchionne] said we can see some changes since the time that ... he said that the structure is solid, we have enough people in Ferrari to be able to work in a good direction. I think he's not happy about the results this season, but he also wants to see something recently that we've moved forward."

Indeed, Arrivabene insists there is harmony behind the scenes despite Ferrari's failure to mount a convincing challenge to Mercedes this season.

"Of course, we did not match our targets this year. But I think one month ago we took some action and now since the last few races it's a bit better. The atmosphere within the team is very positive, everybody is moving forward race after race this year and also next year. So the atmosphere in the team is so good, everyone is looking in the same direction just with a bit of time."
