F1 Hungarian GP: Raikkonen ‘won’t give up’ on 2016 targets

Kimi Raikkonen says Ferrari shouldn't lose focus in its quest to challenge Mercedes in the 2016 Formula 1 season despite a dip in recent form.

Having started the season with high hopes of challenging Mercedes, Ferrari is yet to win a race in 2016 and its fortunes have tailed off in recent races compared to the steadily improving Red Bull RB12.

Nevertheless, ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Ferrari clinched one of the three wins it achieved in 2015, Raikkonen insists the Scuderia will not allow its momentum to drop as this year's championship enters its second-half.

"We will keep working and improving, and not give up until it's not possible anymore," he said. "We know where Mercedes is, ahead of everybody right now, but it doesn't mean we should give up or we're not working on things, and try to catch them up."

Currently third in the standings after 10 races, though Raikkonen is enjoying his best season since 2013 he says Ferrari still expects more than its current results.

"We always expect more as a team, we want to win, and until we win all the time it's not ideal," he said. "As Ferrari we expect to win, but this is what we have got, so we'll keep working and improving."
